KIU provides high quality education through its comprehensive range of education programs in order to achieve the ultimate goal of expanding higher education opportunities within Sri Lanka. Thereby directly support the vision of the Sri Lankan government to develop Sri Lanka as the “Knowledge Hub” of Asia through active participation.

This year, we celebrated our very first convocation at KIU. The convocation was declared open by the Honorary Vice Chancellor, Prof. Neluka Fernando. An opening ceremony was held under the patronage of our chief guests Hon.(Dr) Rajitha Senarathne, Minister of Heath Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, Dr. (Rev) Ito Kyo, Dean, Faculty of Education and Languages, guest of honor Mr.Saman Rathnapriya, President, Government Nursing Officers’ Association, Dr. K.L.Samarasinghe, Senior Lecturer in Nursing, Kristianstad University, Sweden, Dr. Jagath Senevirathne, President of KIU, Mrs. Vithananrachchi, Head, Department of Nursing, KIU, Lecturers and special invitees and their family members.

KIU is proud to announce 52 nurses who employed in the state sector have completed of two years and graduated at the grand convocation ceremony held on the 21st of September 2017 at the KIU Auditorium. These 52 B.Sc. (Hons) Nursing Graduates will be the pioneer’s in the future revolutionary health care system. Among them Y.L.C.Kumari won the gold medal for being the best academic performer.

Dr. Jagath Senevirathne, CEO of the KIU, offered his sincere congratulations to the first graduating batch for the hard work, perseverance and diligence in achieving their dream goal. He conveyed his gratitude to all the distinguished guests for being a strength to KIU. He also thanked all the staff members who work hard to make this event successful in his vote of thanks. KIU has achieved its goal by giving worldwide accepted, quality education within the given time frame.
